Works Manager – Warrington
Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Works Manager to take full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and commercially successful operation of a manufacturing facility in Warrington.
This is a senior leadership position, requiring accountability for all site activities—including production, maintenance, engineering, health and safety, quality, operational performance, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, develop high-performing teams, and ensure the site consistently delivers against business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with customer requirements.
- Foster and maintain a strong safety-first culture across the facility.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) and Quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Drive operational performance through:
- Effective management of productivity, efficiency, downtime, waste reduction, and quality metrics.
- Incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Manage site maintenance and engineering activities to maximise plant reliability and asset performance.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes to ensure statutory compliance and minimise disruptions.
- Take ownership of site budgets, cost control, and financial performance.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
- Support forecasting, business planning, and performance reporting.
- Oversee stock control and supply chain efficiency to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Lead continuous improvement programmes and promote best practices.
- Recruit, develop, and manage site teams, fostering engagement, accountability, and high performance.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements
Essential
- Degree-qualified or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing a manufacturing facility, production plant, or large operational site.
- Strong understanding of production management, maintenance planning, and asset reliability.
- Demonstrated experience leading Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance in an industrial environment.
- Experience in budget management, cost control, and operational improvements.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercially aware, with a proactive, results-driven approach.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with experience in operational excellence initiatives.

Desirable
- Experience in heavy manufacturing, industrial processing, chemicals, aggregates, asphalt, construction materials, energy, or similar sectors.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum.
