Workshop Assembly Manager

Workshop Assembly Manager – Joinery – North West London

Rainford Berry are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded manufacturing business serving leading UK organisations and brands. They are seeking an experienced Workshop Assembly Manager to join their team in North West London.


About the Role

The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the joinery assembly area, ensuring:

  • Efficient workflow
  • High-quality output
  • Full compliance with health and safety standards

They will:

  • Supervise joiners and assemblers
  • Manage workloads
  • Maintain staffing levels
  • Ensure work is completed to specification, on time, and to the highest standard

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Manage daily operations across the Assembly, Joinery, and Specialist Joinery departments, ensuring targets and completion dates are achieved.
  • Ensure products are assembled to drawings, specifications, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and company standards (with the latest drawing revisions in use).
  • Monitor efficiency using shopfloor data, investigate discrepancies, and drive process and system compliance.

Supply Chain and Planning

  • Work with Procurement to ensure materials are available in line with the assembly plan and correctly allocated to works orders.

Team Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop team skills and improve standards.
  • Support continuous improvement in output, quality, and workflow.

Health & Safety

  • Enforce company processes, health and safety policies, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements, and safe working practices.
  • Conduct safety reviews and deliver toolbox talks.
  • Ensure machinery is operated only by competent and trained personnel.
  • Maintain:
    • Training records
    • Skills matrices
    • Equipment/tool registers
  • Carry out quality checks and address non-conformances promptly.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven supervisory experience within manufacturing, assembly, or joinery environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Joinery assembly processes
    • Woodworking machinery
    • Technical drawings
    • Cutting lists (BOMs)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Manage teams
    • Work under pressure
    • Maintain high standards in fast-paced environments.
  • Good IT skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • Familiarity with production software
    • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
