We are currently seeking a diligent and organised Workshop Controller to join our team in Birmingham. This pivotal role will be integral to the smooth running of our workshop operations and the success of our business.
The Role
As a Workshop Controller, you will be the central figure in managing the day-to-day running of our busy workshop. Your organisational skills and attention to detail will ensure that all vehicle servicing, repairs, and maintenance jobs are scheduled efficiently, and that our customers receive excellent service every time.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage workshop schedules to optimise technician productivity and workshop capacity.
- Receive and log vehicle bookings via phone, email, and in person, handling customer enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Allocate work to technicians based on skills, availability, and job complexity.
- Monitor job progress and update customers on the status of their vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of all workshop activities, including job cards, parts usage, and labour hours.
- Work closely with parts suppliers to ensure timely availability of components required for repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop environment.
- Support the Workshop Manager in reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resolve any scheduling conflicts or issues that arise in a calm and effective manner.

Qualifications And Skills
- Proven experience in a workshop controller, service advisor, or similar role within the automotive industry.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Good knowledge of vehicle servicing and repair processes.
- Ability to use workshop management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to managing workload.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
