Workshop Controller – Hyundai/Vanstore Branch (Kilmarnock)
The Opportunity
Join the team at our Hyundai/Vanstore branch in Kilmarnock as a Workshop Controller with Arnold Clark.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay: £35,000 – £45,000 DOE (plus opportunities to earn extra)
- Performance-based bonuses: Up to £9,000 every three years (subject to terms and conditions)

Hours
Monday – Thursday: 8am – 5:30pm Friday: 8am – 4:30pm Alternate Saturdays: 8am – 12pm

As a Workshop Controller, your focus will be on:
- Driving productivity by ensuring first-time fixes and smooth workflows
- Preventing delays—faster turnaround = happier customers
- Maintaining standards: Clean, safe, and professional workshop operations
- Balancing efficiency with quality, ensuring no shortcuts are taken

The Day-to-Day
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Coach and manage a team of technicians and apprentices, aligning their output with targets
- Ensure business objectives and operational KPIs are consistently met
Work Quality & Compliance
- Verify every service or repair for accuracy before finalisation
- Adhere strictly to company policies, DVSA safety guidelines, and manufacturer standards
- Proactively identify risks and resolve technical issues efficiently
Operations & Customer Focus
- Collaborate with other departments to guarantee seamless, hassle-free service
- Schedule jobs smartly, prioritising urgently needed repairs while meeting deadlines
Finance & Data
- Provide detailed estimates and realistic timescales for work
- Track technician time accurately and create technical reports
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in the automotive industry, including:
- Roles such as technician, workshop controller, or parts coordinator
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and operational processes
- Unwavering organisation: The ability to juggle multiple deadlines with precision
- Tech-savvy: Confident using workshop software and IT systems
- Exceptional communication: Clear, respectful interactions with customers, teams and cross-company partners (both in-person and remotely)
- Natural leadership: Inspiring confidence in your team while delegating effectively
- Ethical sales acumen: Stimulating sales opportunities without compromising compliance
