Job Title: Workshop Engineer
Location: Warrington
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining heavy plant equipment? We're looking for a Workshop Engineer to join our team in Warrington, helping to ensure our customers' machinery operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Working within our workshop, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing Volvo Construction Equipment and associated machinery. You'll play a key role in delivering a first-class service by completing work accurately, safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery as required.
- Carry out repairs in line with quotations and agreed timescales, highlighting any additional work requirements.
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Complete service inspection reports, oil sample reports and other required documentation accurately.
- Record time and job information electronically in real time.
- Order and manage parts required to complete repairs.
- Ensure software updates are installed as new versions become available.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Attend product and technical training to maintain and develop technical competence.
- Work in accordance with SMT GB's health, safety, quality and environmental standards.

About You
You'll be a skilled and motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship and excellent customer service. You will be capable of working independently while also supporting colleagues as part of a wider team.
You'll ideally have:
- A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics or a related discipline.
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, driveline systems and electronics.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Basic IT skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- A reliable, conscientious and professional approach to work.
- The ability to understand and follow technical literature, service bulletins and parts manuals.
Desirable
- Welding, fabrication and line boring experience.
