Workshop Engineer – High-Precision Mechanical & Hydraulic Solutions
An exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing UK-based engineering group specialising in high-precision mechanical and hydraulic solutions. The business is expanding with a brand-new, purpose-built workshop in Rotherham, focused on industrial gearbox overhauls and accredited rebuilds. They are seeking an experienced Workshop Engineer to play a pivotal role in the setup and future success of this modern facility.
Role Overview
- Carry out full strip-down, inspection, diagnosis, and rebuild of large industrial reduction gearboxes
- Overhaul hydraulic pumps, motors, engines, and related mechanical components
- Work on complex, high-value assemblies requiring precision technical expertise
- Ensure all rebuild work meets required accreditation and quality standards
- Support the workshop setup, workflow planning, and continuous process improvement
- Contribute to a strong culture of safety, quality, and engineering excellence

Requirements
- Proven experience in stripping and rebuilding industrial gearboxes (essential)
- Strong background in hydraulics, including pumps, motors, valves, and related systems
- Industrial, plant, automotive, marine, or similar mechanical fitting/workshop engineering experience
- Ability to work methodically and accurately on complex assemblies
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and collaborative communication skills
Salary & Benefits
- £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE)
- 45-hour workweek (Mon-Fri, 08:00–17:00)
- Early finish on Fridays (~16:00)
- Occasional overtime (not guaranteed)
