Senior Mechanician (Permanent - Full Time)

About the Role

Knowlton and Newman, part of the Rubix Group, provide 24/7 engineering services. We repair, overhaul, install, and maintain:

  • Pumps
  • Motors
  • Gearboxes
  • Compressors
  • Hydraulic equipment
  • A wide range of industrial machinery

Our services are delivered across multiple sectors to global and industrial clients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all workflow procedures, standards, and safety protocols
  • Operate a range of machine tools for manufacturing and mechanical repair work, including:
    • Milling (drilling, tapping, boring, conventional milling)
    • Lathe operations (horizontal and vertical)
    • Precision grinding (including tool-post grinding and surface-facing)
  • Perform dynamic balancing of mechanical assemblies
  • Apply metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as required
  • Select and apply appropriate materials for theoretical and practical applications
  • Undertake tool setup for operations such as:
    • Broaching
    • Babbitt bearing work
    • Precision machining
  • Execute welding duties using various methods, including:
    • MIG
    • TIG
    • Torch
    • Stick welding
  • Lift, adjust, and secure heavy objects to meet workplace tasks while complying with safety procedures
  • Operate and maintain hand tools and stationary machinery, including:
    • Band saws
    • Belt sanders
    • Hand grinders
    • Files
