Senior Mechanician (Permanent - Full Time)
About the Role
Knowlton and Newman, part of the Rubix Group, provide 24/7 engineering services. We repair, overhaul, install, and maintain:
- Pumps
- Motors
- Gearboxes
- Compressors
- Hydraulic equipment
- A wide range of industrial machinery
Our services are delivered across multiple sectors to global and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to all workflow procedures, standards, and safety protocols
- Operate a range of machine tools for manufacturing and mechanical repair work, including:
- Milling (drilling, tapping, boring, conventional milling)
- Lathe operations (horizontal and vertical)
- Precision grinding (including tool-post grinding and surface-facing)
- Perform dynamic balancing of mechanical assemblies
- Apply metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as required
- Select and apply appropriate materials for theoretical and practical applications
- Undertake tool setup for operations such as:
- Broaching
- Babbitt bearing work
- Precision machining
- Execute welding duties using various methods, including:
- MIG
- TIG
- Torch
- Stick welding
- Lift, adjust, and secure heavy objects to meet workplace tasks while complying with safety procedures
- Operate and maintain hand tools and stationary machinery, including:
- Band saws
- Belt sanders
- Hand grinders
- Files
