An exciting opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to join our wastewater services team, blending workshop innovation with on-site support.
This role ensures continuity of UK water infrastructure by servicing critical wastewater equipment for major utility companies.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will deliver mechanical and industrial equipment maintenance, combining preventive care, fault diagnosis, repairs, and comprehensive refurbishment—balancing workshop-based activity with field support.
- Work variety: Rotate between workshop environments and customer sites nationwide.
- Corporate mission: Support safety-first, sustainable solutions in health and safety, whilst fostering continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & repairs: Overhaul, rebuild, and refurbish machinery (pumps, heavy industrial equipment).
- Scheduled maintenance: Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Fault diagnostics: Investigate engineering failures down to component level.
- Field support: Conduct onsite inspections, prepare technical surveys, collaborate with teams.
- Process adherence: Engage with electronic technical manuals and ensure safe operations.
- Client service: Partner with trades personnel to deliver high-quality work.

Requirements
Essential
- Recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
- City & Guilds qualification (equivalent acceptable).
- Proven expertise maintaining/repairing industrial mechanical systems.
- Problem-solving aptitude for fault-finding.
- Knowledge of industrial installations/maintenance.
- Compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Teamwork-driven communication + diplomacy.
- Full UK driving licence (required for travel to sites).
Desirable
- Industry specialised: water/environmental engineering experience.
- Welding & fabrication (MMA welding required, TIG interrogation preferred).
- Proficient with confined spaces, banksman/slinging/crane operations.
- Manual handling certification.
- Additional modern qualifications: HGV licence.
