Technician – Permanent Full-Time Role
Deritend, part of the Rubix Group
Deritend, as part of the Rubix Group, provides 24/7 engineering services, specialising in the repair, overhaul, installation, and maintenance of:
- Pumps
- Motors
- Gearboxes
- Compressors
- Hydraulic equipment
- A wide range of industrial machinery across multiple sectors
This multi-skilled Technician role combines installation, assembly, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution & Safety
- Analyse job cards and work instructions to determine scope, status, limitations, and requirements.
- Inspect, test, assemble, and commission industrial equipment, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Conduct fault diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
- Record detailed work records, including parts used, time spent, and accurate job documentation.

Precision & Maintenance
- Use precision measuring equipment, such as Vernier’s, micrometers, and dial test indicators.
- Safely operate workshop and site equipment in line with training and company procedures.

Pump Expertise
- Strip-down, repair, identify component wear, reassemble, and test multiple pump types, including:
- Centrifugal
- Submersible
- Multistage
- Progressive cavity
- Turbine
- Positive displacement
- Perform shaft alignment, balancing, and performance testing.
- Occasionally undertake site installation, laser alignment, and commissioning.
- Strip-down, repair, identify component wear, reassemble, and test multiple pump types, including:

Communication & Support
- Liaise with customers, colleagues, and management to provide updates and technical support.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and is delivered on time.
- Promote and uphold company values, particularly safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Essential
✅ Proven engineering/technical background in industrial maintenance. ✅ Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals. ✅ Experience using hand tools, workshop machinery, and test equipment. ✅ Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills. ✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with teams and clients. ✅ Flexible approach, showing willingness to work on-site and in workshops.

Nice-to-Have
✔ Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent). ✔ Specialist certifications (e.g., lifting, confined space work, electrical testing). ✔ Valid UK driving licence (preferred but not mandatory).

- Comply with company and statutory health & safety regulations at all times.
- Take responsibility for personal safety and workplace safety.
- Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained in safe working order.
- Promptly report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
- Maintain quality standards in alignment with ISO procedures and company policies.
