Workshop Manager

Location: Kent (Wingham) / Hybrid working Contract Type: Permanent Salary: from £45k Hours: 37 hours per week Closing Date: 2026-07-31

We’re seeking a Workshop Manager to lead a dynamic workshop team across Kent, overseeing maintenance and engineering projects while ensuring operating standards meet safety, compliance, and efficiency requirements. This role is ideal for a seasoned leader who wants to drive operational excellence in water infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Lead and develop a team of technicians at a critical Kent workshop
  • Delegate, mentor, and coach staff to maximise productivity and skill growth
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Operations & Project Delivery

  • Oversee workshop operations, including maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of mechanical assets
  • Coordinate project teams delivering upgrades and efficiency improvements
  • Align workshop activities with broader business goals and operational needs

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to health & safety and regulatory standards
  • Drive asset reliability through proactive maintenance strategies
  • Minimise risks while optimising resource allocation

Stakeholder Collaboration

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Proven track record in maintenance or workshop management (mechanical/electrical experience preferred)
  • Leadership experience, including team management, project delivery, and multi-site coordination
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, compliance, and risk management
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for site visits)

  • Ability to excel in both operational tasks and strategic decision-making
