Workshop Manager
Workshop Manager – Joinery & Metal (North West London)
Our client, a well-established, modern, and highly respected manufacturing business serving leading UK organisations and brands, is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to join its North West London team.
The Role
The successful candidate will oversee the Joinery and Metal workshops, Assembly teams, and Specialist Joinery department, taking responsibility for:
- Production planning
- Workflow efficiency
- Quality control
- Health and safety
- MRP system use
- Team performance
Key Responsibilities
Team Management & Operations
- Manage daily workshop and assembly operations, ensuring compliance with drawing specifications, BOMs, and quality standards.
- Own the MRP system, maintaining accurate data including BOMs, routings, lead times, and Shopfloor Data Capture compliance.
- Plan and monitor production schedules, capacity, workloads, and resources to meet demand.
- Identify operational constraints and implement improvements for efficiency and standards enhancement.
- Collaborate with Account Teams, Estimating, Design, Scheduling, and Procurement to support operational decision-making.
- Align planning activities with quality, safety, and cost targets.

Health & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with company health and safety policies.
- Promote safe working practices, conduct regular safety reviews, and maintain an updated training and skills matrix.
Production Oversight
- Oversee production schedules, deadlines, equipment use, and resource planning.
- Conduct regular capacity reviews and adjust resources to meet operational needs.
Quality Control
- Maintain effective quality control procedures, equipment, workstations, and maintenance plans.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide weekly progress reports and track KPIs, including productivity and downtime.

About You
- Proven supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of joinery and metalwork processes.
- Confidence in leading teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing/production software.
