Perfect for experienced trainers or skilled electricians looking to move into education while remaining hands-on. Your role will support apprentices in developing confidence, competence, and professional standards, ensuring they are industry-ready—making an immediate and deeply rewarding impact.
At JTL, we go beyond qualifications: we prepare apprentices for life and work. If you enjoy seeing the hands-on results of your contribution, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
This is a dual role: maintaining a high-quality workshop while delivering practical training and AM2S (Assessment of Mathematical, English and Functional Skills) preparation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining a safe, well-organised, and industry-relevant workshop that fosters high-quality practical learning.
- Preparing materials, equipment, and training areas to reflect real-world industry practice, ensuring smooth session delivery.
- Designing and delivering engaging AM2S preparation sessions, focusing on key skills and behaviours required for end-point assessment (EPA) success.
- Providing targeted one-to-one and group coaching to support apprentices in closing skills gaps and performing confidently for their AM2S EPA.
- Assessing apprentices through observations, coaching, and feedback to help them refine skills and maximise success in their end-point assessment.
- Instilling high standards of professionalism, punctuality, attendance, and respect within the workshop environment.
- Embedding employability skills, British values, equality and diversity, safeguarding, and health and safety into all training and workshop activities.
- Taking proactive accountability for safeguarding and ensuring the health and safety of apprentices at all times.
- Maintaining technical resources, tools, and equipment, keeping them ** compliant, safe, and fully functional**.
- Collaborating with tutors, training officers, and staff for a cohesive approach to apprentices’ development.
- Keeping accurate records of training activity, equipment use, and workshop compliance.
- Staying engaged in continuous professional development (CPD), ensuring your knowledge remains up-to-date with new industry developments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
