Workshop & Yard Operative

Workshop & Yard Operative

A well-established engineering business is seeking a reliable and experienced Workshop & Yard Operative to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical skills, a hands-on attitude, and experience in logistics or engineering environments.

Responsibilities

  • Accept and book in deliveries, ensuring accuracy and distributing items to the correct departments.
  • Load and unload goods safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver and collect parts from suppliers.
  • Collect and deliver machinery to and from customers.
  • Support engineers and fitters with day-to-day tasks, including basic assembly and cleaning.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free workshop and yard.
  • Assist with waste disposal, site clearing, and minor maintenance or installation tasks.
  • Carry out vehicle checks, complete required records, and follow all safety procedures.
  • Operate basic workshop machinery such as saws and drills.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience in a stock room, engineering, manual labour, or logistics role.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Good timekeeping and reliability.
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.

What’s Beneficial

  • Valid Forklift Truck licence.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a driver/labourer.
  • GCSE or equivalent preferred.
