Position Overview

Role: Permanent Contract: Term Time Only (25 hrs/week; Monday–Friday, 7:00–9:00am & 3:00–6:00pm) Location: Salisbury Salary: £20,900 pro rata (25 hrs/week) / £31,350 FTE Start Date: September 2026

About the Position

Key Responsibilities

Provision Leadership & Child Engagement

  • Lead the high-quality wraparound care (Breakfast Club & After-School Club), ensuring activities are safe, engaging, inclusive, and aligned with school ethos and Personal Best values.
  • Champion child-centred practices, supporting developmental needs and individual well-being.
  • Promote inclusive environments, accommodating all abilities, backgrounds, and needs.

EYFS & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework for younger children, meeting statutory requirements.
  • Monitor curriculum alignment and developmental progression for participants.

Safeguarding & Child Protection

  • Serve as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the wraparound provision.
  • Oversee safeguarding culture, handling reports, records, and escalations in compliance with legislation and policies.

Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain health and safety standards, including risk assessments, operational procedures, and training compliance.
  • Food hygiene & safety compliance: Ensure allergen management, nutritional standards, and regulatory adherence. Manage records and documentation.

Staff Management & Development

  • Supervise team members, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate rotas and staffing levels to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Support professional development, including training and continuous improvement.

Provision Quality & School Collaboration

  • Monitor quality through evaluations and observations, maintaining high standards in care, behaviour management, activities, and child engagement.
  • Primary liaison with school Senior Leadership Team, ensuring wraparound support aligns with school goals.

Parent & Community Engagement

  • Act as the main point of contact for families, building positive relationships and communicating child progress, attendance, and well-being.
  • Address enquiries and concerns professionally.

Operational Management

  • Manage resources, food stock, equipment, and learning environments to ensure safety, organisation, and children’s positive participation.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • A Level 3 (or above) qualification in childcare, education, playwork, or youth work.
  • Strong EYFS knowledge and understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Prior wraparound care, childcare, or school-based experience.
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and mentor teams.
  • Safeguarding & child protection expertise.
  • Experience in positive behaviour management and inclusive practices.
  • Competency in health/safety regulations, food hygiene, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to develop skills via required training and CPD.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • DSL-specific training completion.
  • Experience leading breakfast clubs, after-school clubs, or nurseries.
  • Collaborative experience with school leadership teams.
  • Food Safety certification.
