WT-Waste Treatment Cambs Ops 4 - Waste Sampler
£13.84 PH (37.5 hour week)
Role Overview
The Waste Sampler is responsible for carrying out waste sampling, inspection and analysis activities for GCSW. The role supports compliance with legislative, contractual and customer requirements by providing accurate and timely data on incoming material streams.
- Working closely with operational teams, the Waste Sampler will undertake sampling activities, record results, identify quality issues and ensure accurate reporting to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Conduct visual inspections and moisture content checks on materials received at the Transfer station.
- Collect representative samples from incoming waste streams in accordance with site procedures and legislation.
- Analyse samples and accurately record findings.
- Identify contamination, non-conforming materials or quality concerns and escalate where appropriate.
- Assist in investigations relating to rejected loads or quality-related incidents.
- Accurately input sampling data into site quality logs and reporting systems.
- Maintain records in line with site procedures, customer requirements and legislative obligations.
- Support the preparation of quality reports and performance information.
- Ensure all sampling records are completed accurately and retained appropriately.
- Liaise daily with Operations personnel regarding sampling requirements.
- Build effective working relationships across departments to support operational performance.
- Communicate quality issues clearly and professionally to relevant stakeholders.
- Support site audits, inspections and compliance activities as required.
- Comply with all Thalia health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE and safe working practices at all times.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within work areas
- Carry out administrative duties, weighbridge cover and sampling activities.

Experience
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to accurately record and interpret information.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability to undertake manual handling activities and work in an outdoor operational environment where required.
Desirable
- Previous experience within waste management, recycling or environmental operations.
- Experience of quality sampling, inspection or compliance activities.
- Knowledge of MF operations and waste streams.
- Understanding of health, safety and environmental procedures.

In a single year we process 300,000 tonnes of waste that is turned into energy. This generates the same amount of energy as approximately 600 million solar panels. Similarly we recycle circa 95,000 tonnes of waste.
