Frontline Operations Technician (Wastewater) – Dover Area

About the Role & Overview
Join our frontline operations team in the Dover Area to ensure wastewater treatment works and pumping stations run smoothly. This critical role supports:
- Compliance with regulatory standards
- Environmental protection
- Excellent customer service
You’ll play a key part in maintaining infrastructure that safeguards both local communities and ecosystems.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Core Duties
- Compliance testing and monitoring – Ensuring all operations meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Maintenance tasks – Unblocking pumps, screens, and valves; fixing alarm systems.
- Fault resolution – Investigating and resolving operational issues quickly.
- Data management – Monitoring, collating, and reporting data for regulatory compliance.
- Sampling & equipment maintenance – Conducting regular sampling and maintaining sampling equipment.
- Chemical handling – Safely receiving, storing, and managing chemical deliveries.
- Digital logging – Using IT systems to document maintenance tasks, safety protocols, and system checks.
Key Requirements
Standby Requirements
- Mandatory participation in a 1-in-7 standby rota to support emergency cover.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Full, valid UK manual driving licence (due to frequent travel across sites).
- Outdoor resilience – Comfortable working in all weather conditions, including managing cold, wet, or hazardous environments.
- Adaptability & self-motivation – Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management & organisation – Balancing routine tasks with responsive emergency work.
- Problem-solving mindset – Quick to grasp and operate complex processes.

Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in wastewater operations or process industries (e.g., manufacturing, utilities).
- Basic mechanical/electrical maintenance skills (a plus, but not essential for entry-level roles).
Salary & Working Arrangements
- £29,325 per annum (pro-rated for part-time slots).
- Opportunities for overtime & standby – Can increase total earnings to ~£34,000/year with rota participation.
- Hours: 38 hrs/week (Monday–Wednesday: 7:30am–4pm; Thursday/Friday: 7:30am–3pm).
- Travel required – Willingness to travel across multiple sites with a current full UK driving licence.
