The Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading Financial Services organisation undergoing a significant transformation of its technology function. As part of their continued investment in digital platforms and engineering capability, they are looking to appoint an experienced Xplan Software Engineer to help develop, enhance and modernise their Xplan ecosystem.

This role will suit an engineer who combines strong IRESS Xplan development experience with broader software engineering expertise across Python and Java, enabling them to contribute beyond platform configuration and support wider technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain solutions within the IRESS Xplan platform.
  • Build and enhance Xplan workflows, templates, calculations, integrations, and custom functionality.
  • Develop APIs and integrations between Xplan and internal/external systems.
  • Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using Python and Java.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to deliver new platform capabilities.
  • Support the ongoing modernisation of FS technology platforms.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the Xplan environment.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and platform improvement initiatives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
