Job Description
Make your mark as a Yard Manager at Boskalis! Boskalis Westminster Ltd are looking to recruit a new team member to fulfil the role of Eastham Yard Manager, responsible for the safe, compliant, and effective day-to-day management of yard-based activities at the Eastham Sands site. The role ensures that all operations are conducted in accordance with approved traffic management, safety, health, environmental management, emergency response arrangements, and environmental permit requirements applicable to the site.
As Eastham Sands Yard Manager you will form part of the North-West project team and fulfil an integral role within the growing sand supply business in the region.
Main Tasks:
Operational Management
- Manage day-to-day yard operations, including vehicle access, traffic control, loading activities, and compliance with the Site Traffic Management Plan.
- Control vehicle movements, designated routes, speed limits, parking arrangements, and loading procedures.
- Ensure all drivers, visitors, and contractors report to the site office and receive the required site induction before entering operational areas.
- Oversee weighbridge operations, ticket issuance, daily sales reconciliation, and associated records.
- Coordinate loading operations, material movements, and sand refill activities to maintain operational efficiency.
- Ensure yard routes and working areas are safe, maintained, and appropriate dust suppression measures are implemented.
- Obtain material samples and carry out quality control testing in accordance with site requirements.
- Provide operational support by operating loading equipment when required and trained to do so.
- Manage and supervise yard personnel to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensure all yard activities are carried out safely and in line with company SHE-Q policies, procedures, and the NINA safety management system.
- Promote safe working practices and enforce compliance with PPE, traffic management, and site rules.
- Identify, report, and manage hazards, risks, incidents, and unsafe conditions within the yard.
- Deliver or coordinate site inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain effective segregation of vehicles, plant, pedestrians, and operational activities.
- Ensure all yard operations comply with environmental permits, environmental management plans, and site procedures.
- Implement environmental controls relating to dust, noise, emissions, spills, housekeeping, and material handling.
- Support environmental inspections, audits, monitoring activities, and incident investigations.
Emergency Response and Compliance
- Support implementation of site emergency and business continuity arrangements within the yard.
- Coordinate and assist with emergency responses relating to vehicle incidents, spills, or other operational emergencies.
- Ensure clear communication and adherence to site emergency procedures during incidents.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, permit-to-work requirements, and all relevant legal and site obligations.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary operational lead within the yard for day-to-day activities.
- Liaise effectively with site management, supervisors, operators, drivers, contractors, customers, and emergency services as required.
- Promote the Boskalis Way of Working and uphold company values and standards at all times.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
Essential
- SMSTS / SSSTS or equivalent
- CPCS or equivalent training for wheel loader / bulldozer and 360 excavators
- Proficient in Microsoft products (word/excel/email/sharepoint/teams)
- Experience in managing similar aggregate load and sales operations.
- Proficient in Weighbridge software and invoicing.
- Proven track record managing reports and operations.

Extra Information:
- Your team: Reporting to the North-West Project Manager, you will work as a Yard Manager, in the Operations Business Unit.
- Where you will work: You will be working at our site in Liverpool.
- Full/part-time job: The position of Yard Manager is a full-time job - 45 hours a week. You will work Monday - Friday, 07:00am - 17:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break.
- Permanent/Fixed Term: This is a 3 year (36 months) fixed term position.
