Job Description
Yard Operations Team Leader (Vehicle Auctions)
Location: Canvey Island
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 Dependent on experience
We’re looking for a hands-on Yard Operations Team Leader to join our Canvey team, taking the lead on site operations while ensuring full compliance with policies and procedures. You’ll oversee vehicle movements, including loading and unloading transporters, all while maintaining high health and safety standards.

Key Areas Of Responsibility
- Monitor the organisation of the yard, flow of vehicles and housekeeping of the site
- Ensure all colleagues complete their tasks to the appropriate standard within the required timescale
- Provide excellent customer service and support to both clients and suppliers and deal with any issues or concerns in an effective manner
- Adhere to Health & Safety and company guidelines, and maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Responsible for site security, site maintenance and alarm maintenance
- Manage employees on a daily basis, including managing leave, sickness and holidays, training and mentoring joiners, assisting with employee issues, and ensuring all employees have the correct safety equipment and tools are in good working order
- Attend site if call outs required resolving any issues appropriately
- Order fuel, oil when required and sign off stationary requests
- Support continual recruitment and development of Yard colleagues and new recruits
- Report to and work with the environmental agency to ensure all guidelines are adhered to
- Identify training needs and book appropriate course/ Forklift courses when required
- Accountable for all the banking/money from the site
- Complete incident and accident reports
- Ensure all personal protective equipment is available
- Carry out weekly site checks and update site diary
- Support the team to maintain its ISO27001 registration

Here's What You Bring
- Ability to lead a team and maximise performance
- Full Driving License
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulation
- Forklift truck license - rough terrain (Advantageous)
- Basic literacy and numeracy
- Mechanical, Metal Recycling or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous)
