Builders Merchant Yard Operative

Location: The Builders Supply – Bothwell

Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm (No Weekend Working)

The Builders Supply is seeking an experienced Builders Merchant Yard Operative to join our busy and growing team at our Bothwell branch.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, hardworking individual with previous experience in a busy builders merchant. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the yard while delivering outstanding service to our trade and retail customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick, prepare and load customer orders.
  • Load and unload supplier and customer vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Receive, check and organise incoming stock deliveries.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented yard at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with collections.
  • Ensure stock is stored correctly and assist with stock control.
  • Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the day-to-day operation of the branch.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a busy builders merchant is essential.
  • Own transport is essential due to the location and working hours.
  • Good knowledge of building materials.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence is desirable but not essential.
