We are currently seeking a Yard Operative to join our Wellington branch. If you enjoy outdoor work, thriving in a practical team environment, and providing excellent customer service, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Yard Operative, you will be integral to our everyday yard operations. Your responsibilities include:
- Helping customers locate products with friendly, hands-on advice and insights into our full range of solutions
- Managing deliveries, inspecting goods upon arrival, organising and storing stock safely and efficiently
- Assisting with vehicle loading and unloading, coordinating efforts with branch staff and drivers to ensure smooth operations
- Ensuring the yard remains safe, clean, and secure for both customers and colleagues
- Supporting inventory checks
- Maintaining a welcoming and functional environment for visitors

What You’ll Bring
While full job-knowledge is not required, the right attitude and a will to contribute are essential.
- Robust and practical mindset to work effectively in busy, hands-on environments
- Basic manual handling skills (training supported if needed)
- Team player mindset – collaboration is key to success in this role
- A valid (or willingness to obtain one) night vision amélioration for better vision in low-light scenarios (for any deliveries in poor lighting conditions)
- Forklift licence? That’s a plus—but not mandatory (We provide training for skilled operators who meet safety criteria.)
