Yard Operative – Saintfield Operation Centre (BT24 7JU)
Award-winning auctioneers and vehicle solution specialists Copart are seeking a dedicated Yard Operative to join our team at our Saintfield Operation Centre (BT24 7JU). You’ll join a passionate, enthusiastic group of people who work hard every day to make our business the best it can be.
About the Role
Our Yard Operative is a key role within our team, supporting our operations on-site in a fast-paced environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an enthusiasm for vehicles, hands-on experience using plant machinery, and customer-focused individuals looking for a varied day-to-day role that offers great benefits.
You will be joining a functioning auction yard (Saturdays only) for operational activities, responding to customer requests, completing tasks and orders, ensuring vehicles are stored and maintained to the highest standards, and operating handheld devices to take images of vehicles.
Available: Monday to Friday basis (no bank holiday working) Salary: £27,976 per annum
Core Responsibilities
Our team thrives on our submissions to customers and seeks a dependable, hardworking colleague, to:
- Possess a Full UK Driving Licence and be ready to work flexibly as required;
- Prevent problem vehicles and customer dissatisfaction through attention to detail and multi-tasking in our fast-paced environment;
- Operate handheld devices, taking descriptive and quality images of vehicles;
- Meet external and internal deadlines and service orders with precision;
- Ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment for the yard team and customers;

Essential Requirements
- A valid Full Driving Licence (must be held);
- Proven experience in using plant, forklift loaders, and shovels *- or similar equipment (e.g. walk-behind loaders, CAT backhoes, loading shovels)**;
- Excellent customer service ability - employing your skills to respond to customer requests andbrechen;
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – to deliver a reliable and welcoming service to our customers in person and via phone and email;
- Strong attention to detail – ensuring tasks are performed to the highest customer & company standards;
- Confident in the use of handheld devices, including experience with mapping software, image/note generation and editing, QR scanning, and storage devices;
- Ability to multi-task in a potentially fast-paced environment;
- Willingness and physical ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, including cold and wet conditions.
Desired Qualities & Experience
- Automotive experience would be a strong desired skill, particularly with vehicle upholstery, to deal with incidents reported by customers and internal issues;
- Experience within a cellarmaster, quick auction, transport, or related environment.
