Yard Sales Supervisor

Experienced Yard Supervisor – Glasgow Branch (New Build Site)

Backed by an average 90 years’ experience across our branches, we’re recruiting for a finished Yard Supervisor to join our brand-new Glasgow site.

Location: Glasgow (New Build Branch) Hours: Full-time – Monday to Friday (10:30 am to 8:00 pm)


About the Role

Reporting directly to the Yard Manager, you’ll be the backbone of operational excellence, ensuring smooth workflows, high standards and a positive team culture.


Key Responsibilities

Operations & Coordination

  • Support the Yard Manager in maintaining a clean, safe and efficient yard environment, adhering to Jewson’s operational and health & safety standards.
  • Act as the day-to-day lead for Yard Assistants, providing clear communication, direction and accountability to meet service and customer targets.
  • Monitor and coordinate yard activities to ensure accurate, prompt processing of customer orders, collections and supply chain movements.
  • Plan and execute inbound/outbound deliveries, optimising load timings and adherence to schedules to maximise efficiency.
  • Liaise with Branch Sales Teams to align yard operations with customer order priorities and ensure seamless handoffs.
  • Oversee stock movement, identify discrepancies and flag stock placements that don’t comply with best practice.

People & Compliance

  • Conduct spot health & safety checks, coach and mentor Yard Assistants on safe working practices, and instantly escalate any risks or hazards.
  • Lead onboarding and induction processes for new team members, including company systems (e.g., HHT/ERP) and product/operations training.
  • Develop and sustain a high-performing team, balancing performance management with ** внутренній характер ator development** (including technical, commercial and customer skill-building).
  • Respond professionally to customer escalations on-site, escalating needed.

Leadership & Communications

  • Participate in daily yard briefings, relaying key updates from management and fostering transparency.
