Yards Person

Yards Person – Civils Reactive Contract

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Yards person to play a critical role in supporting our civils reactive contract. This hands-on position will require maintaining a clean, safe, and efficiently run yard, as well as managing plant, stock, and procurement activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring plant and equipment are tracked, inspected, and ready for use
  • Coordinating hires and managing stock levels
  • Supporting the purchase of materials
  • Conducting basic repairs where possible
  • Organising vehicle maintenance
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in organisation, and wants to contribute to a high-performing team.

We support a planned maintenance, emergency response, and rehabilitation programme, ensuring sewer networks operate efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a yard, construction, or civils environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Basic IT skills, including competence in stock/stock management and record-keeping systems
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Good communication and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Proactive, reliable, and positive approach—someone who thrives with a "can-do" attitude
  • Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
