A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to join a supportive school with a strong focus on high-quality teaching, pupil wellbeing, and professional development. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children through the transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1.
The Successful Candidate Will
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally in a Year 1 class
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and the transition from EYFS
- Have secure knowledge of phonics programmes, such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
- Deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
- Have high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and pupil progress
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Be committed to contributing to the wider life of the school
The Role Will Involve
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
- Preparing pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check through high-quality phonics teaching
- Monitoring and assessing pupil progress to ensure excellent outcomes
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Working collaboratively with the Key Stage 1 team to maintain high standards of teaching and learning
