Year 1 Teacher Opportunity in Islington

A welcoming and high-achieving primary school in Islington is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Teacher to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to join a supportive school that is dedicated to providing an outstanding education. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils build strong foundations in Key Stage 1 while fostering a love of learning in a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally in Year 1
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and the transition from EYFS
  • Have secure knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
  • Deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Have high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and pupil progress
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Be committed to contributing to the wider school community

The Role Will Involve

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Preparing pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check through high-quality phonics teaching
  • Monitoring pupil progress and using assessment to inform planning
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Working collaboratively with the Key Stage 1 team and senior leaders to maintain high standards
