Year Lead
Year Lead (Part-time) – Sawston Village College
Location: Sawston Village College, Anglian Learning Salary: Scale PO2a, Points 31–34 (£41,771–£45,091 FTE), pro rata to hours/weeks worked Hours: Part-time (18 hours per week / 0.49 FTE), primarily during term time, with some flexibility for holiday periods and occasional evening/safeguarding support Contract Type: Permanent, Part-time (Job Share) Start Date: September 2026 (subject to reference checks)
About the Role
Anglian Learning is seeking a dedicated and passionate Year Lead (Non-Teaching) to join the Outstanding Pastoral Team at Sawston Village College.
This is a unique job share opportunity, where the successful candidate will:
- Provide pastoral leadership for a year group, supporting pupils’ personal development, wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance.
- Oversee academic progress, ensuring learners thrive both in and out of the classroom.
- Build long-term relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues, maintaining consistency from Year 7 to Year 11.
- Work collaboratively with tutors, teaching staff, safeguarding teams, and external agencies to nurture pupils’ potential.
The ideal candidate will share a commitment to safeguarding, equity, and excellence—helping every pupil transition successfully into their next stage of education.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong pastoral relationships—with pupils, families, and colleagues to support their growth and wellbeing.
- Promote positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement, aligning with the school’s high standards.
- Monitor and track pupils’ academic progress in collaboration with tutors and staff.
- Collaborate with safeguarding teams to ensure all pupils feel safe and supported.
- Attend meetings including pastoral reviews, safeguarding briefings, and cross-departmental team discussions.
- Maintain regular communication with parents/carers, ensuring consistent support for pupils.
- Work flexibly (including occasional evenings/holidays for safeguarding matters or school events).

Person Specification & Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
✅ Experience working with young people (schools, organisations, or personal roles preferred). ✅ Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues. ✅ Resilience, organisation, and dedication to maintaining high standards of wellbeing and behaviour. ✅ Excelling communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach. ✅ Commitment to safeguarding and understanding child welfare policies. ✅ Experience in a collaborative learning environment (job share welcome!).
