Salary £46,142 - £51,356 | Full time | Fixed term - 12 month contract | Young Adults Team | County Wide Service

We are recruiting!

Lancashire County Council is seeking an experienced and inspirational Young Adults Team Manager on a fixed term basis to lead services supporting young people aged 14–25 through key transition points into adulthood.

This role is central to delivering our Living Better Lives vision, ensuring that young people and young adults are supported to live independent, fulfilling lives with choice, control, and opportunity. You will lead a countywide team that works collaboratively with partners across children’s and adult services to provide seamless, strengths-based transition planning.

You will model and embed Lancashire County Council Values in your leadership and day-to-day practice, helping to create a supportive, inclusive, and outcome-focused service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong operational leadership and management of the Young Adults team
  • Ensure young people aged 14–25 experience smooth, timely, and well-coordinated transitions into adulthood
  • Promote Living Better Lives by supporting independence, wellbeing, and positive life outcomes
  • Embed Lancashire Values in service delivery, decision-making, and workforce culture
  • Oversee complex casework and provide high-quality management oversight
  • Lead, supervise, and develop staff, promoting reflective, strengths-based practice
  • Work effectively with multi-agency partners across children’s and adult services
  • Ensure statutory duties, safeguarding responsibilities, and quality standards are consistently met
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement across the county

About You

We are looking for an experienced professional who can demonstrate:

  • A recognised social work qualification

  • Registration with Social Work England

  • Substantial experience as a Senior Social Worker or Team Manager

  • Strong understanding of legislation, policy, and best practice relating to transitions

  • Proven leadership, supervision, and workforce development skills

  • A clear commitment to Living Better Lives, supporting independence, choice, and wellbeing

  • The ability to lead with compassion, integrity, and professionalism in line with Lancashire Values

Working Arrangements

  • This is a countywide role, with flexibility to work from any Lancashire County Council office
  • The post holder will be required to work 3 days per week in the office
  • Attendance at County Hall, Preston, is required for team meetings and key events

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required, and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
