Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children, young people and families?
CYPMH Dorset is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient Young Person and Family Outreach Worker to join our developing service. This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties, helping them remain engaged with services, reduce the risk of deterioration and achieve positive outcomes in their communities.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide community-based outreach support to children and young people with complex mental health needs. You will work closely with families, carers, education, social care and partner agencies to deliver person-centred, strengths-based interventions that promote recovery, resilience and wellbeing. This role is largely community focused, supporting young people in their homes, schools and local communities across Dorset.
This role aligns with Dorset's THRIVE approach, ensuring children and young people receive the right support at the right time, with a strong focus on collaboration, shared decision-making, prevention, early intervention and enabling young people to achieve their goals. You will play a key role in supporting engagement and helping young people access the networks and resources they need to thrive.
Within your Supporting Information, please indicate your preferred work base location within Dorset. This can be discussed at interview.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
