Youth Engagement Coordinator Role
About the Role
This position leads the Just for Girls sessions on Sunday afternoons, designing an engaging programme for girls and young women aged 10–17. The Coordinator will collaborate with staff and young people to create relevant and enjoyable activities, supporting broader youth work goals. A minimum of 55% of time must be spent face-to-face with young people, with Sunday and evening availability as essential.
Our Coordinators spearhead exciting programming for their areas, ensuring young people aged 8–19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) have enriching experiences at WEST Youth Zone.
Core Responsibilities
Attendance & Programme Design
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver a differentiated programme for girls aged 8–19 (up to 25 with additional needs), focusing on:
- Building confidence and social skills
- Promoting wellbeing
- Ensure Just for Girls sessions meet local needs and engage participants effectively
- Embed the programme within the wider youth work agenda
Participation & Engagement
- Motivate and support young people to fully engage
- Organise events, challenges, and projects
- Foster youth-led planning and delivery of activities
- Contribute to outreach at schools and community locations to attract young people
- Drive the promotional efforts to increase Youth Zone visibility

Team Management & Support
- Provide line management support for part-time youth workers and volunteers
- Work with Volunteer Coordinators on continuing professional development (CPD)
- Ensure platform with resources, activities, and staff training
- Identify key themes for youth development and integrate them into programming
Evaluation & Partnerships
- Monitor, record, and evaluate the Female Engagement programme
- Provide reports to demonstrate impact and quality assurance
- Collaborate with local/organisational partners to expand joint programming
- Represent the Youth Zone in networking and community engagement
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Act vigilantly for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring policies are followed
- Work in-line with heath & safety, codes of conduct, equality, and diversity policies
- Train, model, and champion role-modelling, positive attitudes, and inclusivity
Role Scope
- Lead sessions evenings, weekends, and school holidays (including potential residential roles)
- Lock up the Youth Zone premises as required
- Deputy for Head of Youth Work when needed to cover additional responsibilities

Requirements
Proactive, community-focused individual with:
- Strong youth work/recent voluntary experience essential
- Experience in targeted gender-sensitive programming preferable
- Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and mental health supports
- Practical skills in activity planning, team coordination, and reporting
- Willingness to engage across varying shifts, including evenings and Sundays
