Role Description
The Youth Lead is a full-time, on-site role based at the University of Portsmouth in Portsmouth. This role is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering youth-focused programs and activities that support personal development, engagement, and wellbeing. The Youth Lead will work closely with students, community youth groups, and internal university teams to provide guidance, mentoring, and support tailored to young people’s needs.

Day-to-day tasks include:

- Planning and facilitating workshops and events
- Building relationships with local partners
- Monitoring program outcomes
- Ensuring that activities align with the university’s values and strategic goals
The role also involves:
- Maintaining accurate records
- Reporting on program impact
- Contributing to continuous improvement of youth initiatives within the university and wider community
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Youth Leadership, Youth Programs, and Youth Work, with a focus on empowering and supporting young people.
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with diverse youth audiences, colleagues, and external partners.
- Background or training in Social Work or related fields, with an understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and youth wellbeing.
- Proven ability to design and deliver workshops, events, or outreach activities for young people.
- Experience working in educational or community settings, preferably within higher education or youth services.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.
- Relevant qualification in youth work, social sciences, education, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice in all aspects of youth engagement.
