Job Summary
Serve as the coordinator of all ministries serving youth and their families, creating a welcoming and affirming environment for all persons.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Functions
This position’s primary responsibilities include:
- Coordinating all youth ministries and activities
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing weekly Sunday night youth programming
- Being present with youth and their families on Sunday mornings as available and appropriate
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing special events and trips for youth and their families
Duties
- Provide a safe and welcoming space for youth, family, and volunteer leaders.
- Implement a comprehensive youth ministry program that contributes to the emotional and spiritual development of youth.
- Develop programs that empower youth and their families in spiritual formation.
- Develop and nurture supportive and caring relationships with parents, guardians, and other caretakers and family members of youth.
- Empower church members to take ownership of youth ministries and connectional opportunities.
- Empower and educate volunteers to serve with professional standards appropriate for a diverse congregation.
- Work with Pastor with Children & Their Families to develop a Youth Ministry strategic plan that supports the mission and vision of East End UMC.
- Participate in the preparation and development of the budget for Youth Ministry.
- Maintain Safe Sanctuary procedures and train all volunteers on appropriate communication, contact, and relationship with youth, including appropriate and affirming language to use with LGBTQIA+ youth and parents.
- Track work hours and submit timesheets to Church Operations Director in a timely manner.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Training, Education, or Commensurate Experience in Christian education and/or youth ministry is preferred.
Physical Demands
Employee must occasionally lift or move office supplies or other items up to 20 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time, 10 hours/week position, and employee must be able to work 3 hours on Sunday evenings (4:30 – 7:30) and on Sunday mornings. Planning and coordination hours can be negotiated with supervisor with the possibility of hybrid office/at-home work hours.
Travel
Travel may be required for youth activities and trips.

Up to $25 per hour depending on experience
