About Community Sparks Change LTD

Community Sparks Change LTD is a London-based community organisation focused on creating positive opportunities for children, young people, and families in Lambeth. Their work includes:

  • Free holiday clubs
  • Mentoring & sports programmes
  • Enrichment activities
  • Healthy meals & community programmes
  • Initiatives promoting wellbeing, confidence, inclusion, and personal development

Working closely with schools, local authorities, community partners, and families, they design safe and engaging programmes, particularly for underserved communities and young people with additional needs. Key initiatives include:

  • Sports, dance & interactive workshops
  • Crime prevention & employability support

  • Mentorship through football, boxing, and games-based learning

Role Description

This is an on-site contract Youth Worker position based in London, United Kingdom. The role is centred on supporting children and young people through holiday clubs, sports sessions, mentoring, and enrichment activities, ensuring sessions are engaging, safe, and inclusive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver activities that inspire participation and personal growth.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, fostering confidence and wellbeing.
  • Provide one-to-one and group mentoring to support social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, schools, community partners, and families to enhance programmes.
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement, progress, and safeguarding observations.
  • Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures strictly.
  • Identify emerging community needs, propose new initiatives, and empower young people’s voice in programme design.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven skills in Youth Work and Youth Services, including supporting diverse groups of children and young people.
  • Experience in Youth Mentoring and Social Work, with expertise in providing guidance, advocacy, and structured support to young people facing challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with:
    • Young people
    • Families
    • Schools
    • Community partners
  • Relevant experience in community programmes, sports or arts-based engagement, or work with underserved populations.

Key Certifications & Knowledge

  • Essential: Knowledge of safeguarding best practices and child protection procedures.
    • Advantageous: Relevant training or certification (e.g., safeguarding level 2/3).
  • Desirable: Qualifications in:
    • Youth Work
    • Social Work
    • Education, or related fields.
    • Alternative: Equivalent experience in a similar role.

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Cultural sensitivity to meet diverse needs.
  • Adaptability to customise activities for young people with additional needs.
