Contextual Safeguarding Youth Worker (Permanent, Full-Time)
Job Summary
- Salary: £28,142 - £32,061 per annum (Permanent, Full-Time x 37 hours/week)
- Location: Principally North Wyre, Fylde & Lancaster (Lancashire, England)
- Critical Note: This role is not open to international sponsorship.
Working in partnership with colleagues across Contextual Safeguarding, this role delivers high-quality, proactive 1:1 and group-based support to young people aged 13–18 experiencing contextual/societal safeguarding risks, such as exploitation, social issues, and harmful behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting At-Risk Young People
This is a direct work specialist role, focused on young people at significant risk due to:
- Relationship breakdowns (potential homelessness or care involvement).
- Emotional/mental health impacts on school, family and peer relationships.
- Absconding, sexual/exploitative behaviours, school refusal.
- Persistent emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Engagement in harmful activities (serious youth violence, criminality).

Core Duties
- Deliver individual or small-group therapeutic interventions in a multi-agency team setting.
- Provide wrap-around support tailored to contextual safeguarding needs.
- Connect young people and families with resource and specialist services.
- Evidence-based therapeutic work to support resilience and positive development.
- Flexible working including evenings and occasional weekends to meet community needs.
- Actively seek to build relationships and adapt support dynamically to changing circumstances.
- Develop innovative, strengths-based approaches to emerging young person needs.
Multi-Agency Collaboration
- Work alongside Social Workers and wider multi-disciplinary teams on joint safeguarding strategies.
- Contribute to designing and leading direct work packages.
- Ensure safety, recovery, and access to appropriate support for both young people and families.
