About the Role
You will work collaboratively with Contextual Safeguarding Youth Workers across the county, providing expert 1:1 and group-based support to young people aged 13–18 who face identified or assessed challenges, risks, or extra-familial safeguarding concerns.
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality, intensive support to at-risk young people experiencing contextual/behavioural issues that put them at potential harm. Working alongside multi-disciplinary teams, you will specialise in developing wrap-around intervention packages to prevent poor outcomes, such as family breakdown, homelessness, or long-term care placement.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Intensive 1:1 and group work: Offer bespoke direct work to support and safeguard vulnerable young people, including those at risk of:
- Risk of family breakdown or being placed in local authority care (due to behavioural or relationship issues).
- Emotional/mental health challenges affecting their school attendance, family relationships, or peer relationships.
- Going missing, or exposure to exploitation (sexual/criminal).
- Persistent mental health struggles.
- Needs-based non-attendance at school/college.
- Involvement in serious youth violence or criminal activity.
- Multi-disciplinary collaboration: Work alongside Social Workers, health professionals, and other safeguarding teams to design targeted intervention packages for vulnerable young people.
- Evidence-based centricity: Identify and apply therapeutic approaches to foster growth and resilience in young people.
- Connection to support services: Link young people and families to further specialised treatment, protection, and health services.
- Safeguarding intervention: Implement strategies to keep families intact while mitigating physical and emotional harm.
- Adaptable and proactive attitudes: Respond to evolving challenges, advocate for young people’s needs, and support their safety and recovery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
