Role overview

Our client in the banking industry is searching for a z/OS Systems Programmer responsible for supporting, maintaining and upgrading core IBM mainframe environments. The role covers z/OS operating system support, systems software maintenance, ISV product support, production support, configuration, testing and technical design work.

The client is looking for someone with strong mainframe systems programming experience, including z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, and IBM / Computer Associates products. The role also involves problem determination, software change implementation, project support and ensuring the mainframe estate remains stable, supported and compliant.

Ways of working

The individual needs to be able to work independently while collaborating with wider technical and business teams. They will be involved in upgrades, maintenance, software changes, production support and project work, with a strong focus on risk management, regulatory compliance and clear communication to varied stakeholders.

The role includes off-hours support for software implementations and participation in an on-call rota. Additional experience with Assembler, Automation, GDPS, REXX, CLIST, Top Secret, Omegamon, RMF, SMF or SAS would be beneficial.
