The Role: Assistant Store Manager

This managerial position sits under the Store Manager and supports the team in driving sales and operational excellence while acting as a key brand ambassador. The ideal candidate is a fashion-forward individual passionate about progression in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role involves:

  • Leading toward KPI-driven success – Ensuring financial targets, visual merchandising, service standards, and operational efficiency are met.
  • Promoting brand engagement – Building relationships with clients and partners locally to foster long-term loyalty.
  • Oversight of daily operations – Training staff, managing inventory, and driving results through strategic, customer-centric initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Execution

  • Floor coverage: Oversee in-store adjustments to meet financial targets.
  • Visual merchandising: Uphold branding standards and provide expertise in execution.
  • Service excellence: Garantee premium client experience in all interactions (in-store, virtual, and omnichannel).
  • Business growth: Assist in executing business plans to identify and address opportunities.

2. Brand Ambassadorship

  • Stay true to Rails’ brand identity – both internally and in community outreach.
  • Shape store atmosphere to reflect high-quality, contemporary elegance.

3. Client-Centric Focus

  • Acquire & retain clients through exceptional consultancy (e.g., tailored recommendations, stylistic guidance).
  • Resolve challenges with a customer-first mentality, ensuring seamless resolutions.
  • Track customer preferences to enhance engagement across platforms.

4. Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Organize store events: Launch activations focusing on new launches, seasonal collections, or customer-focused programming.
  • Build partnerships: Foster relationships with local influencers, stylists, and industry collaborators for brand promotion.

5. Team Leadership

  • Cultivate a supportive work environment while aligning schedules to business goals.
  • Repurpose and motivate staff through coaching, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
  • Resolve workplace conflicts professionally for staff harmony.
  • Attend & lead store meetings (including corporate-edited agendas).

6. Visual Presentation

  • Ensure merchandising aligns with brand identity and corporate standards.
  • Support visual teams in executing standards for in-store create and layout.

7. Operations

  • Inventory & supply chain: Oversee receiving, cycle counts, reconciliations, transfers, and returns per company guidelines.
  • Consignment management: Truck reliability with consignment turnover, take rates, and quick returns.
  • Omnichannel readiness: Facilitate Order-in-Store, Ship-from-Store, Pickup-in-Store, Reserve-in-Store operations while tracking KPIs.
  • Asset protection: Manage cash handling, expenses, and POS systems securely.
  • Compliance: Maintain adherence to legal, safety, and procedural policies.

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with:

  • Stores & teams across network
  • Operations, Visual Merchandisers, CRM, Retail Training & HR
  • Regional Management & Buying teams

Project-based responsibilities may arise as needed.


Requirements

  • 2+ years of retial management experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in women’s or men’s apparel retail (seen as a differentiator).
  • Strong KPI awareness within retail.
  • Process-driven mindset—experise in setting and honouring deadlines.
  • Advanced organization skills, including proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Office 365 Suite (advanced in/excel experience).
    • PC and iOS devices (tech literacy required).
  • Physically capable of:
    • Lifting up to 25 lbs.
    • Climbing ladders for display purposes.
  • General: English proficiency, listener-mindedness, and comfort with 10% travel.
