About the Role
We are hiring a City Fleet Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Autonomous Vehicles (AV) fleet in London.
This is a hands-on, operational role focused on:
- Managing depot activities
- Ensuring fleet readiness
- Supporting safe, efficient operations in collaboration with the Lyft Autonomous Business Unit and partners
Reporting to the* Senior Fleet Manager, Europe, you will translate fleet strategy into reliable on-ground execution. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing depot operations
- Ensuring vehicles are ready for deployment
Your Daily Adventures
Core Responsibilities
- Run the London depot: Manage all workflows related to charging, cleaning, staging, vehicle inspections, and turnaround for AVs.
- Identify & implement new infrastructure to support fleet expansion alongside growing demand.
- Own vehicle road-readiness: Plan, process, and execute approved vehicle deliveries from AV partners while ensuring vehicles are properly maintained, registered, and licensed.
- Improve operational efficiency: Implement and continuously refine SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), holding the team accountable for performance.
- Staff & resource management: Plan and oversee local resources—staffing, shift rotations, and depot capacity—to align with fleet volume and demand.
- Drive performance: Instil a culture of operational excellence, identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving cost-per-vehicle efficiency.
- Safety compliance: Ensure adherence to local regulations, AV partner environmental/safety standards, and set a synergistic safety-first culture across depot teams and partners.
- Vendor management: Maintain engenuous relationships with third-party suppliers, monitoring contractual SLAs, quality, and on-site performance. Resolve escalations as the primary point of contact in London.
- Enhance operations: Support scalable growth in local operations, including recruitment, team coordination, and problem-solving initiatives.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
We’re looking for someone who combines hands-on fleet/asset operations expertise with a strong ability to build a high-performing team. Ideal candidates should have:

4+ years of experience in:
- Fleet Management
- Asset-heavy Mobility/Logistics Operations
- EV fleet or Depot/Supply-chain operations
- Hands-on depot management, fleet operations, or operational rollouts
- AV industry exposure = competitive advantage

Process-driven mentality: Demonstrated experience in building/improving SOPs and fostering operational excellence.

Problem-solving & data-driven decision-making: Proven ability to leverage data for optimisations rather than increases in team size.

Stakeholder management: Strong track record in maintaining relationships with third-party suppliers against strict standards and service level agreements.

Regulatory familiarity: Bonus points if you’re proficient in the London transport environment (e.g., TfL, DVSA).
