Contact Supervisor

Contact Supervisor (Full-Time – Permanent)

Role overview

  • Salary: £34,660 per annum
  • Hours: 36-hour week (Tuesday – Saturday)
  • Working hours: 10am – 6pm
  • Locations: Reigate or Woking
  • Arrangement: Hybrid working (60% in-person, average 3 days/week)

Join our fantastic, county-wide Surrey Contact Service Team and play a critical role in high-quality, child-focused family-time arrangements.


About the Role

As a Contact Supervisor, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise family-time sessions between children and relatives, ensuring:
    • A safe, supportive, and structured environment in line with safeguarding procedures, legislation, and service standards.
    • Sensitive management of interactions and challenges, with a focus on child-centred practice.
  • Prepare for sessions, including:
    • Welcoming families
    • Setting clear expectations
    • Undertaking observational assessments during interactions
  • Maintain accurate records:
    • Documenting sessions accurately, timely and objectively to inform Social Care assessments and decisions.
    • Providing analytical summations to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners:
    • Liaise with social workers, carers, internal teams, and external agencies.
    • Coordinate additional administrative tasks to ensure service efficiency.
  • Support service improvements:
    • Promote consistency and quality across supervised family sessions.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement aligned with Surrey Council’s priorities, including:
      • Strengthening safeguarding practices and inclusive, child-centred approaches.
      • Enhancing partnerships with Children’s Social Care.
  • Promote team cohesion:
    • Help and motivate colleagues, sharing good practice and training support.
  • Flexibility and resilience:
    • Adhere to dynamic demands, handle complex scenarios, and step in when the team needs support.

Requirements

To be shortlisted, your application should clearly prove and align with these core competencies and behaviours:

Experience & Skills

  • Engagement with children, young people and families:
    • Proven experience in contact, safeguarding, or social care environments.
    • Familiarity with vulnerable children’s needs and the complexities of their situations.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding framework & procedures, including:
    • Recognising and handling red flags or concerns.
    • Maintaining child-centred approaches at all tasks.
  • Observation & recording:
    • Accurate, objective, timely written reports for assessment and decision-making.
  • Communication:
    • Empathic, clear, professional relationships with:
      • Children and families
      • colleagues
      • external partners (often in tough or emotionally charged circumstances).
  • Resilience & resilience judging:
    • Manage complex situations with calm, professionalism, and sound judgement.
  • Effective organisation & multitasking:
    • Prioritise workloads and attention to detail amid competing demands.
  • Active commitment:
    • Diversity, accessibility and inclusion—services must be responsive to family needs.
