About the Role

This opportunity will see you join us as a Research and Teaching Proffesiwnal with strong communication and interpersonal skills, dedicated to providing enhanced student experiences. You will have a solid research background (or potential) and teaching experience in Health Sciences (or related disciplines) underpinned by research methods. Success will be seen in your ability to enrich students’ learning further through expertise in this field, as evidenced in your qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Student Engagement
- Contribute to developing a biligual research methods curriculum (Welsh and English) across undergraduate programs in the School of Sport and Health Sciences.
- Provide students with a clear understanding of how research methods can be applied across disciplines (e.g., Applied Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Healthcare Professions).
- Key language competency in Welsh and English for role execution.
- Commit to a student-centred teaching philosophy, including supporting developing core and research-level skills critical to independent learning.
- Adopt blended learning strategies to deepen students’ research methods knowledge and digital literacy.
- Engage closely with interdisciplinary research teams (Applied Psychology and Speech & Language Therapy sides) for joint curriculum development.
- Expected to deliver high-impact teaching in Welsh-medium modules where appropriate.

Research Eldership and Methodology
- Bring novel expertise in assessing teaching to introduce and deliver research methodology courses in undergraduate programs.
- Integrate blended learning and facilitate a cohort of diverse research methodologists on collaborative teaching initiatives.
- Additional focus area expected in Health Sciences (or associated disciplinary areas).
- Cultivate knowledge in critical research-led teaching, both for personal subject and within collaborative team environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver research methods teaching/assessment whilst valuing varying paradigms, methodologies and research designs.
- Strong competencies in pulse teaching strategies; cross-team collaboration; and leadership in teacher development to improve student performance.
- Ability to innovatively problem-solve for student research readiness in multiple languages.
- Exceptional teaching and communication skills for complex theories via discussions, presentations, and publications (e.g., conference relations and journal articles).
- Understanding of academic research and research processes, along with existing expertise in drama evaluation procedures.
- Proven experience in higher education teaching, including academic leadership and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Postgraduate degree (master’s level or in progress) is essential.
- Opportunity for admitted candidates to obtain Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy status within three years to enhance professional recognition.
