Occupational Therapist
Occupational Therapist – Part-Time
Hours: 16 hours per week (2 days)
- Flexible working arrangements available (days/times to be agreed)
- Part-time, office-based role
Salary: £16,000 – £17,500 per annum (£40,000–£43,750 full-time equivalent)
- Salary dependent upon experience
Location: Fitzroy Academy, Shrewsbury, SY5 (Role based at Head Office in Cruckton, Shrewsbury, with possible travel to other sites)

New Reflexions is a children’s care, education, and therapy organisation supporting young people who have experienced trauma, resulting in emotional and behavioural difficulties. We deliver integrated, high-quality care and education to help vulnerable children reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.
Role Overview
You will work as part of the Clinical multi-disciplinary team, providing Occupational Therapy services primarily within the Learning Disabilities Service. This role involves:
- Undertaking all aspects of Occupational Therapy clinical duties, adhering to professional conduct frameworks.
- Collaborating across all New Reflexions services to promote the well-being and best interests of young people.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Therapeutic Duties
- Assess independence and functional skills of young people with diverse presentations to identify support needs.
- Develop and deliver whole-school and individualised support strategies.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation and monitoring of needs in line with clinical best practice.
- Contribute to multi-agency intervention plans, including:
- Providing staff training and support
- Direct intervention where necessary
- Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping and report writing, ensuring accurate and comprehensive intervention documentation.
- Support young people in collaborating with their own intervention plans.

Collaboration & Training
- Use specialist tools to assist care and education staff in interacting effectively with young people, including those with communication difficulties.
- Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists to formulate combined intervention plans where needed.
- Embed therapeutic practices within the curriculum team and develop specialist educational programmes as required.
- Support colleagues through coaching and professional development.
Requirements
Essential
- Degree or Master’s qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Membership with the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) and RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy).
- Experience supporting:
- Children and young people with behavioural difficulties (within education or care/residential settings).
- Individuals with learning disabilities.
- Ability to manage a full clinical caseload independently.

Desirable
- 2+ years of post-qualifying experience in learning disabilities and autism.
- Level 3 Sensory Integration Training.
