About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join their busy Freight Forwarding team in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with ocean import experience, offering flexibility, progression potential, and a supportive work environment.


Core Responsibilities

Working in a dynamic freight forwarding environment, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of ocean import shipments while ensuring compliance, efficiency, and outstanding service. Key tasks include:

  • Managing ocean import shipments from booking to final delivery.
  • Coordination with overseas offices, shipping lines, hauliers, customs brokers, and clients.
  • Handling customs clearance, documenting, and compliance checks.
  • Proactive problem-solving for operational delays or issues.
  • Communicating shipment updates to customers.
  • Validating supplier invoices and processing accurate customer billing.
  • Maintaining accurate operational records within company KPIs.
  • Adhering to customs regulations, security standards, and internal procedures.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to elevate customer service.
  • Driving process improvements for efficiency gains.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in Ocean Imports or Freight Forwarding.
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping documentation and import procedures.
  • Familiarity with customs clearance, CDS entries, and Incoterms.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities with-ha multiplicity of shipments.
  • High attention to detail and analytical accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with CargoWise or similar freight systems.
