The Opportunity
Join our talent network and connect with U.S. clients for flexible, project-based development work as a Principal Data Engineer.
You will:
- Integrate directly into your client’s team.
- Work alongside their existing designers and engineers daily.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software or data engineering experience.
- Advanced English proficiency (excellent oral and written communication skills required).
- Completion of a four-year college degree, mandatory.
- Extensive experience building, maintaining, and scaling large-scale distributed systems and data infrastructures in production.
- Strong generalist background in software engineering principles, focusing on architectural trade-offs and systems design over tool-specific expertise.
- Experience as a technical anchor, including:
- Leveling up team members.
- Driving technical alignment across initiatives.
- Track record in:
- Designing, modeling, and optimizing complex backend data structures and pipelines (SQL and NoSQL).
- Operating cloud infrastructure and managing data engineering workflows in production.
- Ability to:
- Reason through system designs aloud.
- Collaborate across cross-functional stakeholders.
- Translate business goals into robust engineering execution.
- Experience:
- Troubleshooting new/difficult issues.
- Contributing to open-source or proprietary libraries as needed.
- Developing continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- A forensic attention to detail.
- Positive mindset and can-do attitude.
- Experience working on Agile/Scrum teams.
- Meaningful experience continuously solving challenges on large, complex systems.
- Demonstrated ability to take extreme ownership of tasks, ensuring daily adherence to agreed-upon expectations.
- Alignment with the goals of FullStack’s clients, with commitment to delivering on agreed commitments.
