Senior Insight Editor
Senior Insight Editor – Find the Story Before It’s Obvious
Konfidant helps brands anticipate Britain. We track how the country thinks, feels, and behaves weekly, relying on human insight—believing the future emerges in feelings long before behaviour shifts. With six and a half years of continuous tracking, 600k+ responses and 30k+ questions, we transform this depth of understanding into commercial advantage for 50+ leading brands through:
- Expert-written briefings
- AI-powered reports
- Sector- and category-specific data insights (all delivered via Konnie, our AI assistant platform)
Our mission: human depth + AI speed, ensuring clients enter conversations ahead of—and better-prepared than—their competitors.
A flagship initiative, Trends in 10*, is key to this. Every week, we translate fast-moving cultural, commercial and consumer signals into sharper, evidence-backed insights with clear actionable hooks. We’re proud of what we do—and now we want to take it further.
This is why we’re creating a new role: a Senior Insight Editor to help augment our thinking at its earliest stage: spotting stories, sharpening them, and shaping our research queries before we even begin.
This Isn’t Downstream Copywriting
This position isn’t about refining final drafts; it’s about getting into the thinking before the research lies down. You’ll partner with our researchers from day one to refine questions, hone angles, and travel away from generic insights toward meaning-making, commercially valuable insights.
A dual language fluency:
- Editorial craft (ordering ideas with rigor, injecting invaluable persuasiveness)
- Research discipline (validity, rigor, striking with a glorious balance of evidence and intuition)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You’ll Be Doing
1. Story spotting & angle development
- Monitor culture, current events and commercial news to surface timely, relevant ideas
- Translate nebulous themes into sharp researchable hypotheses, filtering “noise” into turning points
2. Research shaping
- Collaborate with researchers to frame the right questions, shortlisting key angles
- Pressure-test ideas: Is this more than speculation? Does it add real impact?
3. Editorial synthesis
- Interpret data + cultural context + research findings into coherent, bolting narratives
- Push from “what the data says” → “what it actually means”*
- Bridle generic language, demanding timeliness, tension, and burning commercial urgency
4. Writing & editing with punch and precision
- Craft ice-cold openings, balance bold hooks with ruthless accuracy
- Elevate Dekker product without sacrificing empathy for the facts
5. Raising the bar holistically
- Imbibe stronger editorial habits across the team with coaching on angle-finding, storytelling, and structured writing
- Create higher-impact insights for everyone, not just the House of Konfidant
Who You Are
You’re the kind of 10-year industry veteran (journalism, editorial strategy, thought leadership, PR, brand strategy, and/or consumer insight) who thinks like this:
- You spot real-world relevance instantly—answers don’t need contrived “Islands of Insight” to justify.
- Your writing moves people: sharp without being flippant, confident without overselling.
- You build stories off the back of evidence (not hunch), recognising nuance even with incomplete data.
- Your instincts know what clients actually care about—you don’t fill voids, you add critical gravity.
- You’re a sieve for half-truths, strengthening work without undermining the rigor behind it.
- The world moves too fast for introspection—your weekly performance matters, and you freewheel better on raw motivation than hand-holding.
- Numbers aren’t barrier-skippers. You read charts, contextualise stats like a pro, and sideline mismatched data stories.
- Ambiguity is your playground: you read between the lines but always ask: when should you really push?*
