Modern Stack | TDD & CI/CD | Complex Systems

Remote First (office visits once a month) – must live within 1 hour 30 minutes of South Manchester

£60,000 – £70,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

We’re working with a long-established tech company modernising a complex platform in a highly regulated domain. They thrive on Agile and eXtreme Programming (XP) best practices and are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join a Scrum team.

This role suits someone who is hands-on, problem-solving, and passionate about building well-crafted software—quality code, testing, collaboration, and continuous improvement are key.

The Opportunity

While the Senior role is primarily hands-on, they’re looking for someone with leadership experience capable of:

  • Mentoring junior engineers
  • Leading by example and setting high engineering standards
  • Shaping good engineering practices
  • Helping the team deliver reliably and efficiently

Tech Stack & Practices

The platform is built on a Java-based foundation with modern tooling:

  • Java & Spring Boot
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD) / Automated testing
  • CI/CD and modern delivery pipelines
  • AWS (serverless, EC2, Lambda, etc.)
  • Docker & Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, etc.)

While full expertise isn’t mandatory, strong Java skills + solid engineering habits are critical. Bonus experience with AWS, DevOps, and containerisation is welcome.
