Job Summary
We are seeking an ambitious, collaborative, and experienced legal professional to join our Legal Department’s Privacy and Information Security team under the Deputy General Counsel / DPO (Privacy and Legal Information Security).
This role requires independent legal counsel on privacy and information security matters, supporting Comcast Cable’s global privacy and information security program. You will exercise thought leadership—influencing business strategy and risk management—while navigating an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

Position Details
- Title: Senior Counsel – Privacy and Legal Information Security
- Reports to: Deputy General Counsel / DPO (Privacy and Legal Information Security)
- Location: London (Office-based, 3-5 days/week)
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Legal & Advisory Work
- Independently handle privacy and information security inquiries across Comcast, providing timely, accurate, and pragmatic legal advice to ensure compliance with:
- Company polices and standards
- Applicable local, European (GDPR/ePrivacy), and international laws
- Industry best practices
- Evaluate and advise on new Comcast programs and initiatives, integrating privacy and security principles into business strategy and execution.
2. Governance & Policy Leadership
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing:
- Privacy and data processing policies
- Data inventories, records of processing, and related documentation
- Review company practices to ensure consistency with internal governance frameworks, Data Protection Officer (DPO) directives, and external regulations.

3. Risk Assessment & Compliance
- Lead privacy impact and risk assessments for new projects involving personal data processing.
- Monitor global legal, regulatory, and industry developments in:
- GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act
- UK/EU regulatory bodies (including the Data Authority)
- Self-regulatory organizations (e.g., Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), Network Advertising Initiative (NAI))
4. Regulatory & Incident Support
- Provide practical legal counsel on:
- Data governance (retention, minimization)
- Incident response, including coordination with:
- Regulatory agencies
- Law enforcement
- Lead post-acquisition privacy and information security integration efforts for newly acquired entities.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Training
- Work closely with enterprise and business stakeholders to embed privacy/secure practices into strategic initiatives.
- Conduct awareness and training programs to strengthen:
- Understanding of company privacy policies
- Knowledge of data handling and security procedures
- Compliance with legal obligations
- Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer to advance compliance programs.
6. Strategic Execution & Adaptability
- Execute tasks aligned with departmental strategic plans and leadership directives.
- Actively contribute to risk mitigation, innovation, and operational growth.
- Champion a culture of inclusion and advocate for Comcast’s digital products and technologies.
Required Skills & Experience
Legal Background & Expertise
- Minimum 5 years of combined legal experience, including:
- At least 3 years specializing in privacy and information security
- Proven expertise in European and UK data privacy laws, with in-depth knowledge of:
- General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
- ePrivacy Directive
- NIS2 Directive
- Cyber Resilience Act
- Relevant UK/EU regulations and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with additional global privacy laws and multijurisdictional frameworks is a plus.
Transactional & Analytical Skills
- Hands-on experience with:
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating privacy/data protection agreements
- Data processing, usage, security, and cross-border transfer agreements
- Conducting privacy impact assessments and legal framework optimization
- Ability to:
- Decipher complex legal/technical requirements and translate them into actionable business guidance.
- Lead multiple high-impact projects with consistent quality under deadlines.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision.

- A pragmatic, risk-based approach to problem-solving.

- Strong academic credentials (e.g., Juris Doctor, LL.M.)
- Preferred: Certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, FSAProf ACCA, or similar).
- Advantageous: Experience with privacy management platforms (e.g., OneTrust, Verostic) and familiarity with AI tools (Copilot, Harvey AI).

- Primarily office-based in London with occasional EU/US travel required.
- Commitment to regular, punctual attendance with strong reliability in deadlines and quality.
