Senior Maritime Civil Engineer

A Senior Maritime Civil Engineer

Joining Arup, delivering within our teams,

Arup’s maritime business is experiencing significant growth across the UK and beyond, with an annual 10–20% growth rate projected. Our project pipeline spans coastal resilience, port development, defence, and more.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Maritime Civil Engineer to join the Energy, Water and Resources team in our Liverpool office or UK North locations.

This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, collaborative team and deliver technical solutions across diverse projects, from coastal engineering to port development. You’ll work on influential schemes—shaping flood protections, coastal resilience, and maritime infrastructure. A willingness to learn and grow is critical for success in this dynamic environment.

Resposibilities

As part of this role, you will:

  • Deliver project work from early concept design through detailed design and construction support.
  • Provide technical leadership in civil/maritime engineering designs, including calculations, models, reports, and drawings.
  • Manage project design and delivery, ensuring high-quality technical reporting and compliance.
  • Oversee project commercial management, monitoring progression against budget and programme.
  • Plan, resource, and collaboratively execute team deliverables, embedding support for multidisciplinary work.

You’ll also mentor junior engineers and assist colleagues through technical collaboration, with full internal support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
