  • Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum (FTE)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week, across 4 days (Mon–Fri)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior physiotherapist with neurological expertise and leadership experience to join Stagenhoe, a Brainkind neurological care centre in Hertfordshire.

This role offers:

About Us: Stagenhoe & Brainkind

  • Brainkind is a UK charity dedicated to enhancing lives following brain injuries (trauma, illness, or substance-related).
  • Services include assessment centres, neurorehabilitation units, and hospitals, using expert-led recovery programmes tailored to individual goals.
  • Stagenhoe provides speculative neurological care (aged 18+) across conditions such as:
    • Stroke
    • Traumatic brain injuries
    • Neurodegenerative diseases
    • Acquired brain injuries
  • The care team consists of:
    • Registered nurses
    • Physiotherapists (lead role)
    • Occupational therapists
    • Healthcare assistants & therapy assistants

Key Responsibilities

In this senior physiotherapy role, you’ll be responsible for:

Management & Leadership

  • Oversee team performance: Daily management of staff, operational support, appraisals, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Service development: Lead clinical and operational improvements through:
    • Peer review & audit
    • Outcome measure evaluation
    • Service user participation strategies
  • Clinical governance:
    • Implement risk management policies and compliance with national/local guidelines.
    • Chair interdisciplinary team meetings and service councils.
  • Resource allocation:
    • Monitor caseload distribution, ensuring efficient and effective care.
    • Oversee training attendance (mandatory + professional development).

Clinical Practice

  • Lead therapy delivery: Plan, implement, and evaluate individually tailored rehabilitation programmes.
  • Team supervision: Ensure documentation adheres to HCPC and Brainkind standards.
  • Operational collaboration:
    • Work with therapists, nurses, and healthcare teams across boundaries.
    • Handle operational challenges (e.g., referrals, cross-site coordination).

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Uphold confidentiality and data protection. (Occasional additional tasks may be assigned as needed.)

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC registration as a physiotherapist.
  • Degree or diploma in physiotherapy.
  • Specialist neurological experience:
    • Proven expertise in moderate/advanced neurological conditions with evidence-based interventions.
    • Experience with seating/postural care (advantageous).
    • Essential demyelination/respiratory disease competency.
  • Leadership experience in healthcare/social care:
    • Managing staff clusters (objective-setting, discipline, recruitment).
    • Evidence of analytical thinking (e.g., audit reports, outcome measures).
  • Professional development:
    • Current CPD portfolio (evidence requested).
    • Post-registration training in clinical management.

Desirable

  • Exposure to smart technology aids (robotics, telehealth).
  • Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks (e.g., **TdS ‘no Ticket agenda’**).
