Social Sciences Graduate Teaching Assistant – Social Sciences Support Role

An “Outstanding” secondary school in Tower Hamlets, consistently achieving some of the highest GCSE and A-Level results in the country, is seeking a Social Sciences Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students across the Social Sciences department.


About the Role

As a Social Sciences Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll work with pupils in KS3 to KS5, providing classroom assistance, subject-specific intervention, and academic mentoring. You’ll also:

  • Support learners with SEN
  • Help remove barriers to learning
  • Foster engagement in Geography

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing in-class support in Social Sciences lessons
  • Running 1:1 and group interventions for underachieving students
  • Assisting with lesson resources, planning, and marking

Requirements

We’re looking for:

  • A 2:1 or First-Class degree in a Social Sciences subject from a Top 20 UK University
  • Outstanding academic record, including:
    • Excellent A-Level and GCSE results
  • Confidence in supporting A-Level Social Sciences students
  • A genuine interest in education and social development
  • Commitment from September 2026 to July 2027
