STAFF TRAINING
Staff Orientation
Staff undergo a week of mandatory oriented prior to the first session of summer camp.
Certifications:
- All staff members are Red Cross certified in:
- First Aid
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
At specialized activities, staff receive preOrientation training to:
- Project Adventure
- Adventure Sports
- Swimming
- Waterfront
- Archery
- Riflery
Additional specialized certifications include:
- Lifeguards gain certification from the American Red Cross.
- Ropes course training is conducted by Higher Ground USA.
- Archery staff are certified by the National Archery Association.
- Riflery counselors receive certification under the National Rifle Association.

Camp Staff Trainer – Summer Camp Experts
- Dr. Jerry Jennings – Educational psychologist from Berry College, Rome, Georgia
- Dr. Chris Thurber – School psychologist at Phillips Exeter Academy and regular presenting founder for the The Summer Camp Handbook. Chris also leads training at Camp Belknap (NH).
- Bob Ditter – Licensed clinical social worker specializing in child, adolescent, and family therapy in Boston, MA. He has contributed globally to the American Camp Association as a trainer.
